Michael Kramer, Attorney at law

Interviewer: How public will my situation be? Is my job going to find out or my family and friends? I know with the internet it’s kind of everything’s out there. Is there a way to protect me from being made public?

There is a Great Deal of Information Available on the Internet for Public Consumption

Michael: Unfortunately, there’s freedom of the press and there is really no step that you can take to avoid it. Sometimes local papers pick it up, which is a great fear. You would know better than me as to what the Internet has access to and what doesn’t. Criminal records, I have been told do come up on the internet. There’s really no more secret. Jobs, family, relatives are not notified automatically by police authorities but they can read it in other sources.

Information about Criminal Charges Are Available before a Conviction or Acquittal

Interviewer: I imagine what a lot of people worry about and what they want to know is will this information be made available to the public before I’m even convicted? Is the public going to have a chance to mentally convict me before the court has?

Michael: In the very prominent cases, the details are in the papers daily as to what went on and what didn’t. Unfortunately, the public forms an opinion well before a trial and it’s hard to find a jury of 12 people who haven’t heard anything about the particular incident.

Local Papers in Westchester Will Publish Arrests but Do Not Typically Report on the Verdict

With regard to the local crimes that are committed in Westchester County, just the arrest itself is reported. I always say that the paper should be fairer. Don’t just report an arrest but report the end result of the arrest.

If a person is acquitted, if charges are dropped, the public doesn’t get to know about the verdict but they know that there was arrest out there and this particular individual is in trouble. They should report it on both ends.

If You Are Considering Retaining an Attorney, Attorney Kramer Can Discuss Your Case over the Phone as Well as in Person and the Initial Consultation Is Free of Charge

Interviewer: I agree with that, absolutely. I’ve read over your website and I’m convinced that you’re the attorney for me and I want to setup a free consultation. What’s my next step and how do I contact you?

Michael: You just call the number that’s listed in the website or email me your contact information through my website and I will get in touch with you. I’m available all of the time. I have call forwarding to my cellphone when I’m not at the office so you pretty much can reach me at any time.

We can discuss the case and any of your concerns. I can give you my best advice on the phone.
