If You Are Arrested, Are You Always Eligible for Bail?

Interviewer: I didn’t realize there were a different ways for an indictment to be returned. Will I be able to make bail or get out of jail if I’m arrested or do I have to stay in jail until my trial?

The Bail System Favors Wealthier Individuals

Michael: It depends upon how wealthy you are. This just certainly favors people with resources. For example, the majority of people that are in jail pending a trial are people who lack the resources to make bail.

People who are relatively wealthy tend to have assets that can be used to hire a bail bondsman and provide security to post bail. They are the fortunate individuals that usually get out.
